Biographie
Russell Ira Crowe (né le 7 avril 1964) est un acteur et musicien australien né en Nouvelle-Zélande. Sa carrière d'acteur a débuté à la fin des années 1980 avec des rôles dans des séries télévisées australiennes, notamment Police Rescue and Neighbours. Au début des années 1990, la notoriété locale de Crowe a atteint son apogée lorsqu'il a remporté le prix du meilleur acteur de l'industrie cinématographique australienne pour son portrait d'un skinhead des quartiers défavorisés dans le film de Geoffrey Wright, Romper Stomper Stomper. À la fin des années 1990, Crowe a transféré ses ambitions de comédien aux États-Unis avec son rôle de rupture dans L.A. Confidential (1997). Crowe a remporté l'Academy Award du meilleur acteur pour Gladiator en 2001 et a reçu trois nominations aux Academy Awards pour le meilleur acteur dans un rôle de premier plan : The Insider (1999), Gladiator (2000) et A Beautiful Mind (2001). Il est également copropriétaire de l'équipe nationale de rugby de la South Sydney Rabbitohs.
